KBB was again invited to be a part of the Coverings 2025 VIP Press & Influencers Tours as part of the Coverings Global Tile & Stone Experience. Last week included an in-depth look at the porcelain offerings from Tile of Spain, the Tile Council of North America and Ceramics of Italy.
Our first stop was to the “Why Tile” introduction and tile trends report presented by Alena Capra, CMKBD, the ambassador for Coverings. Porcelain tile has many assets, including being healthy, hygienic, low-maintenance, durable and sustainable.

The 2025 Tile Trends in Porcelain
- Colors of Sand. This trend uses nature as a base and encompasses a variety of sandy hues.
- Discreet Technology. Now you can hide cooking surfaces and charging stations in porcelain countertops. This trend also includes being able to disguise lighting in tile.
- Holistic Experience. It has become a part of our lives to incorporate nature into the home, including wood looks and chunky stones.
- Lines, Lines, Lines. Fluting was a huge trend at KBIS, and it was at Coverings as well. Thin, wide, horizontal, vertical – the choices run the gamut.
- Mineral Drenching. Designers are now wrapping all the surfaces in a space in large-format stone looks.
- Mosaic Artistry. Just as we are mixing materials in such elements as plumbing fixtures and hardware, we are seeing this trend with tile as well.
- Re-Human. The look of true craftsmanship and hand-made artistry never goes out of style.
- Sensorial Design. We are seeing more tactile looks for tile in various patterns you just want to reach out and touch.
- Veins of Gold. This is a nod to classic design, as we have already been seeing these warmer tones in lighting fixtures and decorative hardware.
- Waterworld. Tile is celebrating color – especially blue and green – in every shade and tone.
