2024 BlueStar Kitchen Design Contest Winners

Published: August 26, 2024

BlueStar®, the manufacturer of professional-performance kitchen appliances for the home, has announced the 2024 Kitchen Design Contest winners. Seven exceptional kitchen projects, six regional and one grand prize winner, have been chosen for their creative use of BlueStar appliances, showcasing the brand’s infinite customization options and superior performance. This year’s judging panel included some of the industry’s most talented designers, including previous contest winners Charla Ray, Amy Storm and Heidi Piron, alongside the BlueStar panel.

The grand prize-winning design (top) is a stunning Colorado retreat by Brian Anderson of Thurston Kitchen & Bath in collaboration with architect Lea Sisson and builder Alpine Mountain Construction. Drawing inspiration from the expansive mountain views, the kitchen features a BlueStar 60” Platinum Series Gas Range in Wine Red with Brushed Stainless Steel knobs and trims, complemented by a 58” Professional Hood Liner. This handleless, sleek kitchen design emphasizes the rich Wine Red range, creating a striking contrast against the modern palette of weathered wood and sleek black. The kitchen merges modern wood grain Carbone textured laminate cabinets with integral pulls, steel elements, and integrated appliances, crafting a contemporary aesthetic that harmonizes with its breathtaking surroundings.

“This kitchen design offers a harmonious blend of light and dark textured woods, creating a visually pleasing contrast that is further enhanced by the vibrant Red Wine BlueStar range. The careful attention to scale, proportion, and meticulous details elevate this refined kitchen design to stunning levels,” said Heidi Piron, one of this year’s judges and a previous BlueStar contest winner.

Additionally, BlueStar is pleased to announce six regional winners:

Commenting on this year’s entries, judge Amy Storm noted, “It was fascinating to see how designers incorporated fine details and consistency across a variety of styles. The winning designs particularly stood out for their cohesive use of finishes and materials, integrated with great attention to detail.”

Judge Charla Ray tells KBB, “It was very interesting to judge such beautiful spaces with so many different styles and overall vibes. I am drawn to fine details and consistency, so when judging, I really looked to see how finishes and materials were connected and repeated in beautiful ways.”

Overall, the 2024 contest highlighted several key trends in kitchen design, including the increasing popularity of warm wood tones, bold color choices, and richly textured materials. The versatility of BlueStar appliances allowed designers to push creative boundaries, resulting in kitchens that are not only functional but also visually striking.

With over a century of offering high-performance appliances and beautiful, customizable designs, BlueStar is proud to recognize the talented designers who create dream kitchens throughout the US. The annual competition has become a coveted honor celebrating the incredible kitchen projects that incorporate BlueStar professional-style appliances such as ranges, wall ovens, vent hoods, and premium refrigeration for the home. The Grand Prize winner receives BlueStar appliances with up to $20,000 retail value, and regional winners are granted a cookware set retailed between $400-$600.
