Marazzi Crogiolo Lume Tile

Marazzi has introduced a 10-by-10 format to its Crogiolo Lume series. The brand’s most recent research into industrial craftsmanship has led to a rediscovery of the beauty of authentic, colorful, decorated ceramics in collections with a handmade look, created by combining craftsmanship with industrial technology.

Crogiolo presents a special level of quality and aesthetics, reflecting Marazzi’s unceasing research and technological innovation, combined with a return to what it is to be human, as well as the care and attention typical of craftsmanship. These materials lend vibrancy and a warm, welcoming mood to a space, beyond passing fashions and time.

The name Crogiolo is central to the history of Marazzi, since it is the name of the industrial building where Marazzi was first established in the 1930s, between the railway tracks and the Modena canal. It is the place where, in the 1980s, Il Crogiolo, Marazzi’s research and experimentation hub, was founded. It was there that architects, designers, artists and photographers were invited to interpret the artistic potential of ceramics with complete freedom, leading to a fertile season of pure research resulting in the Marazzi Sperimentazioni series, designer tiles by Roger Capron, Amleto Dalla Costa, Original Designers, Saruka Nagasawa and Robert Gligorov, with photographs by Luigi Ghirri, Cuchi White and Charles Traub.

The “Il Crogiolo” series of booklets documents the brand’s history and 112 projects involving new applications and decorative techniques, with illustrations, original sketches, photographs and comments by Marazzi’s designers and ceramicists, which are still a source of inspiration for the company’s product development today.

This spirit is the inspiration for the new Crogiolo collections, a perfect combination of the love for craftsmanship and authentic ceramics and the continuous research and innovation that have distinguished Marazzi for more than 80 years.

In the world of ceramic surfaces, few collections manage to combine the essence of craftsmanship with the brilliance of porcelain stoneware like Lume. With its glossy surfaces, intentional imperfections, and rich glazes, Lume celebrates the authentic beauty of handmade majolica, standing out for the expressive power of its colors and material details.

Today, the collection evolves with the introduction of the 10×10 cm format, available in eight vibrant colors, and the new 3D Dew structure — a raised floral-inspired decoration designed to add rhythm and texture to walls.

The new compact square format enhances the chromatic and graphic variations typical of the collection, emphasizing the depth and luminosity of the surfaces. The palette includes eight shades: white, bone, caramel, emerald, green, turquoise, ocean and blue, selected to offer both harmonious combinations and bold accents, suitable for residential and commercial spaces.

The 10-by-10-cm format joins the well-established 6-by-24-cm size, sharing the same technical and stylistic features — straight edges for precise installation, rich glazes and tactile surfaces that blend craftsmanship with contemporary design.
