In its search for a flagship showroom in Miami, Gaggenau was drawn to this location in the city because it’s in the heart of the city’s Design District, yet offers an intimate, private setting via the penthouse and spectacular vistas.
The new showroom, meant to stimulate the senses and create experiences allowing guests to learn more about the brand, was developed by Munich-based studio 1zu33, a firm which has worked with Gaggenau for over a decade. Inspired by Miami’s Art Deco glamor and merged with Gaggenau’s minimalist aesthetic, the new luxury space exemplifies a “Minimal Deco” style.
“The showroom makes you feel that you are entering a friend’s well- appointed home, discreetly showcasing our appliances within a residential setting, avoiding the typical commercial store ambience. It’s a sanctuary within the Miami Design District, offering a serene, intimate brand experience,” said Heather Ryan, head of Gaggenau North America.
To convey the essence of the brand, the 1zu33 design team looked to establish an atmosphere of quiet luxury, with a welcoming residential feel. The showroom’s physical layout has a deliberate story-telling flow that relates to the brand’s pillars: celebrating refined craftsmanship and design, heritage and professional- level kitchen performance, all within an effortlessly experiential environment.
Special care and consideration was given to color and materials, creating an aesthetic that is both warm and understated while allowing the appliances to shine. Sandy hues, textured walls and cabinetry based on the coastal culture are complemented by playful Art Deco and natural wood elements, while lighting by German-based Occhio GmbH highlights materiality and gathering spaces.
The Miami flagship plans to host immersive experiences including curated art installations providing innovative and emerging artists a platform to showcase their work.
