Just inside the entrance to the newly-remodeled Arclinea NY showroom, an alcove of lush vegetation – echoing Madison Square Park across the street – sets the stage for a succession of eight contemporary and transitional kitchen spaces.
The linear plan of the 5,000-square-foot showroom creates an unobstructed pathway through not only space, but time as well; the collection of kitchens on display was designed and curated by Antonio Citterio over the past 20+ years.
Daniel Yarom, founder and owner of Arclinea NY, points out that the reason for the showroom remodeling was to stay current with the company’s offerings. “Arclinea has grown and made massive expansions in finishes and models,” he said.
The renovation remains true to Citterio’s original concept. The enfilade arrangement allows Yarom – who personally greets each visitor at the door and accompanies them through the space – to leverage his decades of experience while getting to know the needs and preferences of the Arclinea customer.
A series of arches running through the center of the showroom delineates each vignette while also permitting views of the other kitchens. This open-but-structured design works to acquaint visitors with the flexible nature of the Arclinea units.
“It’s easy to walk customers through the showroom,” said Yarom. “During the tour, I can listen to the client, learning about their project, whether it’s a cosmetic refresh or a gut renovation. Starting at the front of the showroom, I can educate the client by pointing out certain proprietary elements in each kitchen model. Then we circle back to the sample board and discuss their plan, their appliance needs and ultimately select – in broad strokes – the finishes and models.”
