A functional sculpture, Stone Forest‘s Barrel Sink is carved from a single block of sumptuous, semi-translucent onyx. Weighing in at 650 lbs., the sink nevertheless boasts a translucent nature; when lit from within using an LED rope light, the sink takes on an ethereal quality. Onyx is a variable in terms of color, crystalline structure and veining. Every hand-carved, solid onyx creation is one-of-a-kind. Since onyx is naturally translucent, it allows light to glow through from behind. The material not only varies significantly from block to block, but within most individual blocks.
