Falling at the intersection of functional art and collectible design, emerging Chicago-based studio Refractory is pleased to introduce its new lighting series Heretofore.
Meaning “until now,” Heretofore is an exquisite exploration into the act of holding light, rather than directing it, as it traces the moment something transitions from “until now” to “now.” The collection — which includes the Hanging Light and Sconce — merges sensitive, hand-chiseled texture and white patination with industrial troughs of sculptural, cast bronze.
As with Refractory’s other lighting pieces, the new series powerfully reimagines light in sculptural, artistic forms, effortlessly capturing the essence of the “lighting as art” trend.
