DeWils Fine Cabinetry announced the addition of rift sawn oak to its wood species offering, responding to growing demand for natural wood cabinetry in contemporary, transitional and organic-modern interiors.
The new offering expands DeWils’ existing oak selection, which includes plain sawn red oak and quarter sawn white oak, giving designers another distinctive way to incorporate the warmth and authenticity of oak into their projects.
As with DeWils’ other premium wood species, rift sawn oak comes with no wood species upcharge. Through its All Woods, One Price approach, DeWils gives designers the freedom to select the wood that best fits their vision without a premium species surcharge.
Unlike traditionally sawn oak, which often displays sweeping cathedral grain patterns, rift sawn oak is cut to produce a remarkably straight, consistent grain. The cut minimizes cathedral patterns and the prominent ray fleck commonly associated with quarter sawn oak, resulting in a clean, refined appearance with subtle natural movement.
DeWils’ rift sawn offering is glacial oak, sourced from colder northern growing regions where slower tree growth produces tighter, more uniform grain patterns and naturally lighter blonde-to-straw coloration.
Together, these characteristics create a sophisticated, understated appearance that highlights the natural warmth of wood while complementing today’s cleaner cabinetry designs.
