S+H Construction, a multi-award-winning residential construction firm based in Belmont, Mass., has announced new leadership with the promotion of Ed Sullivan to president, effective immediately. Sarah Lawson, who has served as president since acquiring the company in 2016, will transition into the newly established role of chair.
This leadership shift marks an exciting evolution for S+H Construction, as it continues to build on a more than 45-year tradition of craftsmanship and client-first service.
“Ed and I started at S+H the same month back in 2007,” said Lawson. “Since I took ownership, Ed has taken on more and more responsibility, always with integrity, humility and a deep commitment to excellence. I trust Ed to be a steward of who we are and to help lead us into the future.”
As president, Sullivan will take the reins as the day-to-day leader of S+H Construction. Lawson, as chair, will shift her focus outward—building and nurturing relationships with architects, clients and industry partners, while continuing to guide the company’s strategic direction. She will remain the company’s owner and work closely with Sullivan to ensure a seamless leadership transition.
“This transition reflects the incredible growth of our team and our ability to elevate leaders from within,” said Sullivan. “I’m incredibly proud of where we are and excited for where we’re going.”
Sullivan began his construction career at the age of 14, working summers at his uncle’s construction company. He joined S+H in 2007 as an assistant project manager and has grown within the company to his most recent role of vice president of operations. Sullivan brings a blend of practical experience, team leadership and client-focused thinking to everything he does.
Lawson learned carpentry from her father, a mechanical engineer. After 15 years as a technical writer, she returned to her passion for building, launching a general contracting firm before joining S+H Construction in 2007. In 2016, she purchased the company and has since led it with a focus on high standards and community.
