Miele, the largest German family-owned premium appliance manufacturer announces the global partnership with Chef Kyle Connaughton of three-star Michelin restaurant, SingleThread, located in Healdsburg, CA and Chef Norbert Niederkofler, Executive Chef at three-star Michelin restaurant St. Hubertus at Hotel Rosa Alpina and owner of AlpiNN Food Space and Restaurant, both located in South Tyrol, Italy. The brand selected Chef Kyle based on his beliefs in sustainability and creation of exquisite cuisine.
Miele and the Michelin-star Chefs created “Stories from Our Only Home,” a series of videos about the planet, people and produce – most importantly, promoting the importance of sustainability in and out of the kitchen.
In his video, world-renowned Chef Norbert launched a gastronomic revolution coined, “Cook the Mountain,” and shared his relentless pursuit of meaningful innovation, in which he advocates for sustainability through the ethical sourcing and cooking of ingredients.
Sharing the global message of sustainability, Miele and Chef Kyle continue to educate viewers with a new series, in which the chef speaks about his vision and his team’s efforts in sustainability through his circular approach. In the short film, Chef Kyle and his team demonstrate how they are putting this promise into actionable steps that are ever-evolving for improvement.
“We are incredibly proud of the partnership with Chef Kyle and his wife, head farmer, and co-owner of SingleThread, Katina Connaughton. Chef Kyle and Katina share the same philosophy as Miele and the same values about sustainability being at the core,” said Søren Rye, President and CEO Miele USA and Mexico. “We all have a responsibility to do everything we can to ensure a brighter, more sustainable future. ‘Immer Besser’ defines the commitment Miele insists upon to always do better in everything we do. It continues to inspire us to create even better, smarter appliances so that the homes and businesses they serve are more sustainable from generation to generation. Chef Kyle, Katina and their team exemplifies this with their circular approach that reduces food waste and consumption of non-renewable energy.”
Like Miele, Chef Kyle and Katina have designed every part of the award-winning restaurant and 24-acre farm with purpose. Between growing their own seasonal produce and feeding food scraps to the farm’s animals, nothing is wasted so they can strive to create a healthier, sustainable habitat for generations to come. The video aims to share this circular concept as a means for inspiration.
“We like to think we’re a work in progress. Always looking for ways to improve,” said Chef Kyle Connaughton. “Having a partner like Miele who shares this philosophy, we know we aren’t alone. It’s about working together to protect and preserve what we have. When you understand everything is connected, you never take anything for granted again. That’s real progress.”
The synergies between the brand and the chef and farmer are illustrated throughout the “Stories from Our Only Home” campaign. There’s a strong link between longevity and craft. When a product is made with care and built to last, it will be here long after we are gone, similar to Connaughton’s approach to farming and living from the land. Between the longevity of Miele products, the goal of reducing food waste and the desire for constant improvement, these core brand elements are also reflected in the Chef and his restaurant, inn, and farm. The film takes a documentary approach, capturing the Connaughtons as themselves in their natural habitats, both on the farm and the restaurant.
This global campaign will run digitally across Miele social media platforms throughout 2024. The campaign will conclude with a celebratory series of events in partnership with the brand at SingleThread Farms.
