GE Appliances (GEA) announced this week that it will team up with the family management app S’moresUp. Through the integration, users with connected appliances from GEA brands, led by its innovation leader GE Profile, will be able to assign household chores based on notifications from their appliances. For example, users could assign a family member to fold laundry once they receive the alert that the dryer cycle is done, or they might be assigned the task of putting away the dishes once the dishwasher cycle finishes. Users can also send reminders and rewards when a task is completed.
“We are always looking for partnerships that enhance the meaningful technology that our suite of connected appliances is built on, and S’moresUp is a useful tool that makes an impact for families,” said Jeremy Miller, commercial director of SmartHome Solutions for GE Appliances. “Now more than ever, parents are stretched thin and household chores pile up as many of us are doing everything from home. This app builds on the alerts that we already offer through our connected appliances and helps organize household tasks so everyone in the home can lend a hand.”
In research among 1,000 families, S’moresUp found that time is the biggest challenge, and being responsible is the most important value for families. The company also discovered that more than 75% of parents remind their kids daily of chores, which is why it aims to take the chore out of chore management.

This integration will be available on the more than 600 Wi-Fi–enabled appliance products manufactured by GE Appliances. The S’moresUp app, available in the App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon connects with the SmartHQ appliance management system for GE Appliances. In addition to the chore management platform, the app also offers features such as a family calendar and dashboard, assistance for kids to self-manage screen time, assistance for parents to manage their children’s online school assignments, personalized insights for parents and more.
