Kerrie Kelly: The power of connection has been invaluable. Design is so much more than a creative pursuit; it’s about building relationships, both with clients and with industry partners. Being open, approachable and truly listening to others’ visions has enriched my practice and strengthened my designs.

How has your experience as a brand ambassador shaped your design practice?

Kerrie Kelly: Serving as a brand ambassador and design partner has expanded my perspective, allowing me to explore different materials, technologies and processes that I may not have encountered otherwise. This exposure has enriched my work, keeping it fresh and relevant while also giving me unique insight into products and innovations that add real value to clients’ spaces.

What advice would you give someone entering the design business?

Kerrie Kelly: Stay authentic and grounded in what makes you unique. The design world can be fast-paced and demanding, so it’s important to keep your passion front and center. Find mentors, ask questions and view every project as an opportunity to learn and grow. And most importantly, remember that design is about creating spaces that elevate people’s lives.

What are you most looking forward to in 2025?

Kerrie Kelly: In 2025, I’m thrilled to see several exciting projects come to life – including the design of several KBIS booths – that reflect both innovation and client-centered design. I’m also looking forward to continuing my service on the NKBA Board as Vice Chair, working alongside talented industry professionals to shape the future of our field and support the next generation of design leaders.
