Laufen Does Good in Green Design

Published: November 15, 2010

Laufen
was the recipient of two Green Good Design awards in 2010. The company received a product design award for the ILBAGNOALESSI One toilet, as well as an architecture award for the Laufen Forum exhibition, training and visitor center.

Presented by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the Green Good Design awards are an extension of the Good Design awards. Laufen’s winning ILBAGNOALESSI One toilet offers a modern look, while meeting the EPA WaterSense tank-type high-efficiency requirements with an average of below 1.28 gallons per flush. The Laufen Forum is a virtually windowless, concrete structure that houses exhibition, presentation and training space, as well as product displays. Basel-based architecture firm Nissen & Wentzlaff collaborated with Laufen on the design, which is based on the minimum energy standard.
