MILEstone, the porcelain tile manufactured brand of Florim USA, welcomed more than 60 architects and designers to its 2026 Sustainability Summit, held Oct. 7–8 at Florim USA’s manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tenn.
The two-day event brought together design professionals, sustainability leaders, manufacturers and installation experts to explore responsible material selection, manufacturing innovation and emerging solutions shaping the built environment. Designed to foster meaningful conversations and exchange practical knowledge, the summit offered attendees an inside look at how porcelain tile manufacturing, product innovation and installation practices intersect with sustainability goals.
The program combined expert presentations, interactive discussions, guided factory tours, live installation demonstrations and product reviews, while creating space for architects and designers to share perspectives on industry challenges, material decisions, and innovations shaping more sustainable design. Attendees also had the opportunity to earn AIA/IDCEC continuing education credits.

“Being a leader in porcelain tile’s sustainability initiatives means more than developing products and improving how we manufacture them. It also means listening, sharing knowledge and understanding what the design community needs to move forward,” said Rodolfo Panisi, Florim USA president & CEO. “The Sustainability Summit gives us an opportunity to bring these conversations together, learn from one another and continue doing our part to support a more sustainable future.”
Education Grounded in Real-World Applications
The summit’s educational program addressed sustainability across the material lifecycle, from manufacturing and material selection to healthy indoor environments, outdoor applications and installation. A dedicated panel discussion examined installation considerations for large format porcelain panels, industry expertise and the practical factors that influence successful applications.
Manufacturing Innovation in Focus
Attendees experienced porcelain tile production firsthand through guided factory tours and product showroom reviews. Live installation demonstrations showcased MILEstone’s Pre-Fab porcelain panels and L-Shaped countertop solutions, illustrating installation methods, precision and expanded design possibilities. The program also included a review of outdoor paver applications and DAC Stories Collections, connecting product innovation with the evolving needs of architects and designers across interior and exterior environments.
By bringing product development, manufacturing, sustainability and installation expertise into one setting, the summit encouraged attendees to consider the aesthetic possibilities of porcelain tile, as well as the information and practical knowledge needed to make informed material decisions.
Giving a Voice to the American Design Community
Equally important to the summit’s educational program was the opportunity to hear directly from the people shaping the spaces where people live, work, learn and gather.
Architects and designers bring firsthand knowledge of evolving client expectations, material challenges, emerging design trends and the demands of creating buildings that are both sustainable and resilient. MILEstone believes these perspectives should be part of the conversation as the industry considers what comes next.

By creating a forum for candid discussion and knowledge exchange, the summit invited attendees to share their priorities and identify opportunities for manufacturers to better support their work. These insights will help inform future educational programming and ongoing efforts to provide relevant product information and resources to the architecture and design community.
A Shared Responsibility for the Future
MILEstone recognizes that advancing sustainability requires continued effort, accountability and a willingness to improve. Responsible manufacturing is an important part of that work, but progress also depends on education, transparency and collaboration across the industry. The Sustainability Summit reflects MILEstone’s commitment to doing its part while creating opportunities for the architecture and design community to exchange ideas, ask important questions, and explore practical approaches to sustainable and resilient design.
