According to the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), kitchen and bath dealers expect marginal improvement in market conditions this quarter despite a decline in showroom visits, sales volumes, remodeling budgets and revenue last quarter.
“Rather than buy a new home, the economy is encouraging many homeowners to find ways to enhance the quality and value of their homes through kitchen and bath remodels,” said Don Sciolaro, chief executive officer of the NKBA. “Unfortunately, financing upgrades to a home remains a challenge for many people, and that is clearly reflected in recent showroom visits, sales and revenue figures. However, it’s certainly a positive sign that leading kitchen and bath dealers are optimistic heading into the final quarter of the year.”
The NKBA Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI), which forecast the confidence of kitchen and bath dealers on a scale of -60 to +60, is +14 for Q4 2010. KBMI is based on general optimism among dealers across all indicators including 44 percent that anticipate an increase in kitchen and bath revenue this quarter. The NKBA KBMI surveys approximately 150 kitchen and bath dealers across North America each quarter.
