American Standard Donates Toilet Systems to Bangladesh

Published: November 26, 2013

On the recent 12th-annual World Toilet Day, American Standard celebrated the toilet with a progress report on its Flush For Good campaign. The company is donating almost a half million SaTo sanitary toilet pans throughout Bangladesh.

The donations are expected to improve the lives of 2.5 million residents of Bangladesh during 2013 and 2014. Installations underway will be complete by the end of 2014. American Standard is executing the program with partners BRAC, WaterAid and Save the Children.

The goal of World Toilet Day is to raise awareness about this global health issue and to support the organizations working to create change. Nearly 40 percent of the world population – or 2.5 billion people – lacks access to safe sanitation. Every day, 2,000 children die from diseases caused by this lack of proper sanitation. The Flush For Good initiative provides a SaTo donation from American Standard for each of its Champion toilets sold in the U.S. and Canada in 2013.
