KBB was invited to take part in the 2026 Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association Factory Tours earlier this week. Our publisher, Natasha Selhi, went on in-depth visits to the Wellborn Cabinet factory (Ashland, Ala.), as well as the First Haven Cabinetry factory – also owned by Wellborn, which has been in business since 1961. The event was KCMA’s first visit to Wellborn since 2018, and the cabinet brand had a lot to share about expansions, including the First Haven line, which launched in 2025.
Wellborn’s factories produce minimal waste and use almost all materials.
Factory Facts:
– The factories house everything from the logs to the finished product.
– Each team member has an equal interest in the end product.
– Wellborn services all its own machines and maintains its fleet of 45 trucks.

The 250,000-square-foot First Haven facility opened last October with a target of employing 400+ workers at full capacity. The factory produces about 2,000 laminated kitchen and bath cabinets daily for entry-level remodeling and new construction.
Many of the carts in the factories are built by Wellborn Cabinet.
The Ashland Campus is approximately 2.2 million square feet and employs 1,300+ people. The factory is the largest industrial employer in the area and produces semi-custom framed and frameless kitchen and bath cabinetry sold through nationwide independent dealers. It’s 2021 $15-million expansion included a planer mill, paint facility and four additional buildings.
