Talk about scope creep: New York City architects The Turett Collaborative was initially engaged to design the centerpiece of the West Village duplex: a sweeping curved staircase. In the end, the project grew into an comprehensive collaboration between the firm and the homeowner, interior designer Purvi Padia.
The complete revamp of the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half bath duplex apartment included reconfiguring the kitchen layout and gutting all the bathrooms down to the studs. The result is a welcoming abode with fluid circulation and design that unfolds at every corner, unified by thoughtfully curated finishes, lighting and furnishings.
Cool Kitchen
Radiating warmth and light, the kitchen creates an intimate gathering space where friends and family can convene and relax at the marble-topped table with inviting Bottega chairs by Soho Concept. The kitchen’s gleaming glass further accentuates this ambiance, offering a modern reinterpretation of the classic factory-glass aesthetic and providing dynamic views of Lower Manhattan.
Bountiful Bathrooms
While each of the bathrooms in the duplex has its own distinctive character and color palette, common to all is the use of bold, upscale finishes and materials. Cabinet doors are sculpted of warm woods. Walls and floors are clad in rare stones and arty tile. Steel-framed shower doors are fitted with frosted glass panels.
