In her reworking of a primary bath located in Snoqualmie Ridge, Wash., Shelagh Conway of Triple Heart Design was gifted with an expansive project budget. The Austin-based designer made the most of the opportunity, creating a spa-inspired, modern organic bathroom with abundant amenities, top-shelf materials and an elegant ambiance.
Along an exterior wall, a zero-threshold, walk-in shower is positioned proximate to a freestanding tub sourced from Victoria and Albert. It’s a clever variation on a wet room design, with just the shower walled of by a glass panel; at the other end of the wall, the tub sits in a corner of the room, fully accessible. “Creating curbless showers is always a challenge in a remodel,” said Conway, who credits her contractor in bringing the feature to successful fruition.
Luxury Underfoot
Across the heated floor on an interior wall stands the vanity. Its three segments – two sink units flanking a lowered make-up station – are amply dimensioned, allowing comfortable simultaneous use by multiple persons. The cabinets are crafted of the same white oak used for the floor-to-ceiling linen cupboard that stands at the foot of the tub.
Triple Heart Design’s expertise on biophilic design played a key role in this modern organic bathroom. The large operable window admits plenty of sunlight and fresh air. Natural materials – marble for the floors and walls, white oak for the vanity and linen closet – In total, the design provides a sense of well-being and connection to the natural world from within the home.
