Protekdesign Velia and Mira 45 Flush Wall Closures

Protekdesign has expanded its range of flush-to-wall closures with Velia and Mira 45, two systems capable of transforming functional surfaces and service compartments into coherent parts of the architecture.

In contemporary architectural design, the quality of space is increasingly measured by its ability to integrate different functions without compromising visual coherence. With Velia and Mira 45, Protekdesign expands its range of flush-to-wall closures, offering two systems conceived as design tools capable of turning functional surfaces and utility rooms into coherent parts of the architecture. Laundry rooms, pantries, cupboards, technical niches and hallways, often considered second-rate elements, thus become design opportunities, where closures are not superfluous, but work by subtraction, blending in with the wall and allowing the space to express itself in a unified, orderly and measured manner.

Velia and Mira 45 fit into residential and contract contexts offering great freedom of composition, adapting to different geometries and complex configurations in which large flush-to-wall wardrobes, under-stair and attic spaces – even with irregular heights, thanks to the trapezoidal variant – find a solution that follows the architecture without forcing it. In particular, Velia is available as a modular system with up to eight doors, allowing for the creation of wardrobes that can reach 3 meters in height and exceed 5 meters in width, making them a true architectural surface rather than a simple closing element. The folding versions further expand the application possibilities, making the system suitable even for smaller spaces, where the bulk of a traditional hinged door would be restrictive.

Protekdesign’s design approach is based on a discreet technique that does not invade the space but rather supports it, ensuring functional access to service compartments with its flush-to-wall closures while maintaining perfect visual continuity, thus becoming an integral part of the wall. In this context, Mira 45 represents a targeted response to the most complex technical requirements. The reduced 45-mm profile allows installation even where deeper frames cannot be used without compromising on sturdiness and clean lines.

In this balance between technology and design, the surface also plays a central role in the dialogue with architecture. The panels, made of white melamine-faced chipboard with ABS edging, can be painted, coated or treated with decorative textures, offering designers the possibility to choose whether to make the closure completely camouflaged or transform it into a controlled graphic feature. For outdoor applications, the aluminum composite panel further expands the design possibilities, ensuring durability and consistency with the language of the architectural envelope.

The functional details follow the same design approach. The push-pull opening, supplied as standard, can be complemented by various handle and access solutions – Flip or Ray handles, round or square flush door pulls, up to an optional lock – leaving the designer in full control of the element’s visibility, depending on the context and overall concept.

With Velia and Mira 45, Protekdesign confirms its vision that flush doors are not just a technical element, but rather an integral part of the architectural design — a solution for clean, seamless and orderly spaces, where every function has its place in harmony with the overall design.
