Nemo Tile + Stone, a New York City-based provider of surface materials, has introduced Samara, a Moroccan zellige collection. The new colorful collection is authentically handcrafted, paying homage to the time-honored tradition of handmade zellige tile.
Samara is authentically handcrafted from the finest Moroccan clay, beginning as earthy slabs that are meticulously hand-molded and shaped by local artisans. This hands-on approach continues as each tile is carefully hand glazed and infused with vibrant colors and with a glossy sheen that reflects centuries of Moroccan tradition. The process, steeped in manual craftsmanship, ensures that every tile is a personal creation from the artisan’s hands.
Zellige tiles are celebrated for their unique characteristics—their imperfections are not flaws but rather marks of authentic handcrafting. Each tile varies slightly in color, texture and sheen, contributing to a look that is rich in character and natural beauty. These variations ensure no two tiles are exactly alike, offering a truly distinctive and organic aesthetic that enhances any space.
The collection is suitable for interior and exterior applications and is offered in 42 colors and three formats, 4 by 4, 2 by 6 and in a 12-by-12 mosaic sheet featuring 2-by-2 tiles.
