Minarc RUBBiSH ReFlow

With a design philosophy focused on innovative solutions and material use, Minarc conceptualized the RUBBiSH ReFlow, a clever, sustainable bathroom sink system that repurposes the water used for hand-washing to flush the toilet. This one-of-a-kind concept provides a passive, yet proactive method for conserving water and a practical solution for proper reuse.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average family wastes up to 180 gallons of water per week on an annual basis. In fact, the NYC Environmental Protection group estimates that washing your hands alone can use up to 4 gallons of water.

A minimalist sink base solidly frames a thinly stretched, durable recycled rubber sheet, with water flowing down a gentle slope from the faucet to an anchored drain on the opposite end. The revolutionary design results in a stream of water that empties directly into a toilet tank. This simple, elegant system allows for every drop of water from hand-washing to be reused and repurposed to flush the toilet. This not only provides a sustainable opportunity for a singular plumbing system, but also cultivates an automatic, continuous and passive conservation of water.

Inspired by the iconic landscapes of Iceland, the homeland of Minarc Founders Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir and Tryggvi Thorsteinsson, the elongated sink is an elegant play on the slopes of glaciers and seasonal ice melt.
