Kew Labs, the wireless charging design and manufacturing brand, introduced the UTS-1 Invisible wireless charger at KBIS 2023. The UTS-1 aims to make wireless charging in kitchen countertops safer and easier to install with 1.2cm charging distance and it’s patented Intelligent Power Communication Technology.
To further its performance claims, Kew Labs has worked directly with countertop brands, such as Cosentino, to officially approve the charger for use with Silestone, Dekton and Sensa. It is currently available for consumer and at dealer prices for commercial partners and kitchen retailers.
The UTS-1 goes discreetly underneath a surface, allowing users to charge all Qi compatible phones through the surface using Qi wireless technology. Designed and optimized in-house by Kew Labs wireless charging design team, the charger works through all non-metallic materials, including, natural stone, quartz, granite, marble, glass and wood, making it suitable for almost any type of surface within the home.
To achieve universal compatibility with all phones on the market, Kew Labs recommends installing the UTS-1 at a surface thickness between 1cm-1.5cm (0.39-0.60 inches), which means thicker surfaces will likely require routing to within the specified thickness range. The charger is then simply attached to the underside with the double-sided tape provided. The daisy chaining capability also allows two chargers to connect with one adapter to make it a perfect solution for kitchen islands and matching bedside furniture layouts.
What sets the performance of the UTS-1 apart from the competition is the Intelligent Power Communication (IPC) Technology — Kew Lab’s patented thermal management system. IPC allows the UTS-1 to work through thicker surfaces more efficiently to deliver a fast and safer charging performance than the competition. To verify their claims on stone countertops, Kew Labs has been working directly with major countertop brands and has recently been officially approved for use by Cosentino on Silestone, Dekton and Sensa surfaces and Inalco. For wood worktops, Kew Labs has partnered with Colorado based Armani Fine Countertops.
