GE’s new 30-in. freestanding gas range (model JGBS23) offers steam-clean capabilities to loosen baked-on food, allowing it to be wiped away with fewer chemicals and less scrubbing. To activate the feature, users pour one cup of water into the reservoir, select the Steam Clean option on the control panel, and in approximately 30 minutes the intense heat of steam vibrates molecules causing hard food items to break down. The range features a 4.8-cu.-ft. oven capacity and 12,000-, 9,500- and 5,000-Btu sealed cooktop burners, as well as a big hearth window. Available in black, white, bisque and stainless steel with a retail price of $599 – $699.
