Danish design company Furnipart has introduced the Wood Collection, a new series of wooden handles and wooden knobs. For Furnipart, it has been crucial that the wood for these products is from responsible forestry, therefore all wood used in these designs is FSC certified (FSC C173037). In addition, Furnipart has worked to ensure that the design references the proud Danish joinery traditions.
The warmth and softness of wood makes it the perfect material to contrast perfectly with the manmade everyday items that surround us. Rather than the design driving what material we use, the use of wood means that the material defines the design, and this is evident in how Furnipart utilizes the woodgrain to emphasize the natural flowing lines of its products.
However, for Furnipart to use wood with a clear conscience, it recognizes that wood is a scarce resource, and therefore, there are certain demands and criteria that the company adheres to. By using FSC certified wood, Furnipart can trace the timber back to its source of responsible managed forests. Preferred by Nature, which is a third party FSC-accredited certification body that has visited Furnipart several times to assess the wood it uses and examine the finished products all the way down to the handling in the warehouse.
Finishes offered for the Wood Collection include, oak lacquered, black oak, oak lacquered/ matt black and black oak/matt black.
