The New Classic Collection 2025 by Kauppi & Kauppi for Essem Design is the company’s first introduction in the U.S. market. It includes the new Classic Coat Stand, Classic Mirror, Classic Coat Hanger, Classic Hook Strip and Classic Hook (Big or Small) in yellow.
The collection is a welcome expansion to the brand’s Classics Family, and the new designs create a cohesive contemporary accessory collection for homes and commercial or public spaces alike. All five new designs are produced locally in southern Sweden and are available in several lengths and versions.
In 1959, the Classic Hat Rack, designed by Gunnar Bolin, quickly became a true classic in Swedish Design. Essem saw potential in its elegant yet simple expression and collaborated with Kauppi & Kauppi to honor the legacy of the original design while also adapting to the needs of homes today. Inspired by the materials and characteristic curved corners of the original hat rack, Kauppi & Kauppi designed a whole family of complementary products for Essem.
The new designs round out the collection and include a slender freestanding coat stand with an airy bow-like top, a hook loop that nods to the 1950s hatrack by its shape, a slim minimalist knobstrip, a hallway mirror with extra knobs for a key chain or other essentials and a wall-mounted knob available in two sizes.
The new line maintains Essem’s functionalist heritage while offering new designs and a sun yellow colorway. Parts are replaceable, and they are functional and easy to install. Since the 1930s, the Swedish company has been making products that are elegant, sturdy, functional and stylish.
