DMF Lighting 8- to 4-in. Retrofit Conversion Kit

DMF Lighting has introduced its 8- to 4-in. Retrofit Conversion Kit, making it easy to upgrade outdated recessed lighting without disturbing existing ceilings and reusing existing wiring. Designed to retrofit standard 6- through 8-in. round housings to modern 4-in. architectural downlights, the new kit expands upon DMF’s previous 6-in. conversion kits by accommodating larger housings and supporting high-lumen adjustable LED modules.

Engineered for renovation and modernization projects, the conversion kit is available for both insulated ceiling (IC) and non-IC applications and is compatible with industry-standard recessed housings with a minimum volume of 50 cubic inches. The kit pairs seamlessly with DMF’s M Series modular light engine modules and trim families and the H Series 4-in. flanged modules and trims, allowing existing installations to be transformed into sleek 4-in. flanged or flangeless architectural downlights while preserving finished ceilings. An installation collar provides a secure, flush fit.

The modular design simplifies both installation and future maintenance. Embedded drivers housed within the LED light engine modules eliminate the need to access the ceiling plenum for servicing, while quick-connect electrical connections allow modules to be replaced from below the ceiling. The tool-less below-ceiling servicing is enabled by two driver options based on lumen output: an embedded module driver for standard lumen packages and a touch-safe detachable driver for higher-lumen non-IC applications. DMF adapter options enable reuse of the existing housing wiring.

The embedded driver architecture also delivers smooth, flicker-free dimming to 1% and below is compatible with most 0-10 volt or TRIAC/ELV dimming controls.

The retrofit light engine modules are available in Downlight and Adjustable (360-degree rotation and 45-degree tilt). Tool-less, field-changeable optics enable beam distribution to be tailored on-site, with options including 15-, 25-, 40-, 60- and 90-degree beam spreads, as well as linear spread and soft focus distributions.

Multiple lumen packages are offered up to 1500 lumens for IC applications and 3500 for non-IC applications. Color temperatures include a choice of 2400K, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and Warm Dim (3000K–1800K), all delivering a 93 CRI. Color consistency is maintained within a two-step MacAdam ellipse to provide uniform illumination across an installation.

Complementing the modular system is a broad selection of precision-engineered deep die-cast aluminum trims, including standard, hyperbolic, pinhole, wall wash/sloped ceiling, decorative and flangeless styles. Each trim is wet-painted to create a durable matte finish and is available in white, black, bronze, clear diffused or custom RAL colors.
