New shower components eliminate additional waterproofing steps

A series of new shower components from Schluter-Systems speeds the process of completely waterproofing a shower area prior to tile installation. All Schluter pre-formed shower benches and curbs are now constructed with waterproof and lightweight Kerdi-Board building panels, so additional waterproofing of these elements is no longer required. All seams are completely sealed, allowing these load-bearing components to be quickly and easily installed using thin-set mortar with a strip of waterproof membrane to be applied where the elements meet floors and walls. Kerdi-Board panels are dimensionally stable, making the material an ideal substrate for tile.

Schluter’s previous introduction of sloped polystyrene shower trays eliminated the time-consuming construction of mud-bed floors for many projects. Now, all Schluter shower trays will come with a pre-cut sheet of Kerdi membrane to waterproof the shower floor. The inclusion of this pre-cut sheet eliminates the need for the installer to measure and cut one or more pieces for the shower floor. It provides a perfect fit, every time, and there are no overlapping seams on the floor so installation is faster and easier.
