Barovier&Toso Opéra Collection

The collection of suspension, table and sconce lights was designed by Philippe Nigro.

The 700-year old Venetian lighting brand Barovier&Toso has announced the launch of its latest creation: Opéra, a collection of suspension, table and sconce lights by French designer Philippe Nigro. Inspired by the iconic and baroque Opéra Garnier in Paris, the design prominently showcases Barovier&Toso’s patented, century-old “rostrato” technique. Invented by Ercole Barovier in 1938, the manufacturing method consists of “freehand” shaping of Venetian Crystal to obtain a continuous series of multi-faceted prisms.

The opulence and grandeur of the famous Parisian theatre, with its symmetrical structure, are echoed in the design of the Opéra lamps. The collection thrives on subtle contrasts. The references to a certain Baroque splendor are tempered by more minimal, contemporary touches, generating a delicate, harmonious dichotomy.
