Jenn-Air Featured in Designer Visions Show Homes

Published: January 30, 2013

Jenn-Air has partnered with Elle Decor, House Beautiful and Veranda for the sixth annual Designer Visions. Showcasing interior design talent and trends, this year’s Designer Visions has transformed residences in an historic Manhattan building into three elegant, contemporary homes, each reflecting the distinctive style of the participating magazines and designers.

The homes – part of a 106-unit condominium conversion now underway at 250 West Street – will be featured editorially in the magazines, profiled on their web sites, and used as special event venues in the next few months as part of the showcase. The homes also served as movie sets for six short films produced in association with 48 Hour Film Project, an organization that works to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. The film projects, including three that integrate Jenn-Air appliances into their story lines, required filmmakers to complete the entire process, from writing and filming to editing and scoring, within a 48-hour period.

Designers participating in the Designer Visions showcase include Matthew Patrick Smyth for Elle Decor, David Rockwell for House Beautiful and Antony Todd for Veranda.

Smyth’s Elle Decor kitchen, described by the magazine as a “modern-day Grand Tour-in residence,” features the seamless look of a paneled, built-in refrigerator and a perimetric ventilation hood designed to hang on the wall like a piece of modern art. It also includes the Jenn-Air Pro-Style wall oven and a five-burner, high performance gas cooktop.

Rockwell’s House Beautiful kitchen, characterized as a “bohemian-chic aerie,” was designed with entertaining in mind. It features cabinetry with no visible hardware and a sleek, induction cooktop paired with a sculptural ventilation hood.  The double wall oven incorporates full color, touch-screen technology with a Culinary Center that provides suggested settings for achieving the best possible cooking results.

“Casual elegance” is the guiding vision behind Todd’s Veranda kitchen (pictured), which features an open floor plan and Hudson River views. Appliances include an integrated, paneled refrigerator, a Euro-Style double wall oven and an unobtrusive ductless downdraft ventilation system.

“Each of the kitchens showcases a different selection of appliances and a very distinctive look,” said Brian Maynard, director of brand marketing for Jenn-Air. “Together they reflect the breadth of our luxury appliance collection, with each offering specific ideas and inspiration for pairing various appliances with different kitchen designs and lifestyles.”

Designer Visions opened on January 29, 2013. A virtual tour and behind-the-scenes video, as well as feature interviews with the editors and designers will be available online at elledecor.com, housebeautiful.com and veranda.com. Video highlights of the kitchens will be featured on jennair.com.
