Winners of the 2024 Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year Awards

Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year winner David Frazier

Presented by ADAC (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center), in partnership with American lifestyle magazine VERANDA, the 2024 Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year Awards were announced last night during a gala at the Atlanta History Center. The annual event celebrates firms and individuals from across the Southeast who exemplify the highest caliber and bring forth contemporary ideas innovating the design world. A panel of decorated judges selected winners for the best talent in architecture, contract design and residential design from a group of 26 skilled finalists spanning the Southeast. Prior to the gala, finalists were recognized Wednesday night at Ernest Gaspard during ADAC’s annual spring market, DESIGN ADAC.

The 2024 Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year winners are:

Architect: TS Adams Studio Architects | Atlanta
Contract Design: Tate Casper & Jordan Winston of Oxford Design | Tampa, Fla.
Residential Design: David Frazier | West Point, Ga.

KBB got a chance to speak to the Residential Design winner, David Frazier in an exclusive one on one. We asked him how winning this honor furthers his business and career in general.

“Winning this award and being recognized amongst so much talent is a huge boost for our firm’s profile,” said Frazier. “ADAC and Veranda represent the best showrooms and design in the Southeast and beyond, and to have an award given by these institutions is invaluable.”

We also heard from one of this year’s judges, Aimee Buccellito, regarding the overall Residential winner.

“This project is all about light, materiality and movement; there are curves and edges but harmony between objects and also the overall scale of the work,” she said. “Who knows the condition of the original ‘canvas,’ but the outcome of this beautiful alteration is peaceful and organized; a graceful intersection of old meeting new.”

“It’s thrilling to see such revered and sophisticated designers receive their rightful recognition,” said Katie Miner, ADAC general manager. “Both TS Adams Studio Architects and David Frazier have been nominated as finalists in their respective categories before, Tate Casper & Jordan Winston of Oxford Design is a first-time finalist, and all three firms are first-time winners this year! It’s wonderful to witness these impressive individuals and their businesses surpass expectations, shape the design world, and inspire future candidates.”

Entries poured in from nine states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Finalists were selected by a distinguished panel of industry experts, including VERANDA Executive Editor Ellen McGauley; Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates Founder and Principal, Corey Damen Jenkins; and Schafer Buccellato Architects Partner, Aimee Buccellito.

“What an honor to be part of this process and this esteemed jury,” said Buccellito. “The sheer number and quality of the submissions is a testament to the talent in this room and those who work collaboratively with you around the region and the country to bring these projects to life. The submissions provoked a truly stimulating conversation among the jury; there were so many beautiful projects, even narrowing them to a list of finalists was difficult.
