Anna Maria Mannarino Wins Four Design Excellence Awards

Published: July 26, 2023

Anna Maria Mannarino of Mannarino Designs Inc., upped her tally to 33 awards to date, both regional and national, in an array of categories including high-end residential, kitchen and bath, outdoor, healthcare, hospitality, retail and product design, with four wins at the Design Excellence Awards from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Designers (ASID NJ).  Celebrated at the Clubhouse at Galloping Hills Golf Course in Kenilworth with Emmy award-winning George Oliphant of NBC’s “George to the Rescue,” Mannarino was called to the stage to receive awards four times.

“I am honored to receive these important recognitions and thank all the independent judges and juries,” said Mannarino, who is a past president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of American Designers (ASID NJ).

She won a coveted Gold for the downtown Charlotte, N.C., condo that was once owned by NFL star Cam Newton. The clients love color and have an important art collection. Mannarino obliged their taste with vivid hues that act as a warm counterpoint to the cool industrial city views and provide an ideal backdrop for pieces by Vic Muniz, Kenny Scarf, Eduardo Arranz-Bravo and Jorinde Voigt.

On the product side, her Art Deco-inspired hand-knotted wool and silk carpet design for The Creative Touch Inc., a to-the-trade resource that specializes in quality traditional and contemporary handcrafted rugs based in Secaucus, N.J., won an Industry Partner Award.

Mannarino was also awarded for a golf simulator room she designed and built in a corner of a client’s basement. She created a country club setting and an ideal space for him to practice his swing or challenge family and friends to a round of golf, anytime and anywhere, as the simulator can be programmed to play courses from around the world.

Mannarino’s outdoor space won an award as well. This apartment terrace was to be a modern yet comfortable space for a variety of activities.  Since the interior glass walls of the terrace fully open to the interior space of the apartment, and the exterior wall is fully open on top, it was essential the selection of furniture, lighting and accessories complemented the interior while all being suitable for inclement weather. The design is punctuated with a pair of red Eero Saarinen Womb chairs and matching ottomans.
