Twenty-eight of the West Coast’s top interior and landscape design firms have been busy remaking the rooms in this year’s 45th San Francisco Decorator Showcase, a culturally and historically significant 11,155-square-foot Dutch Colonial mansion at 2898 Broadway on “Billionaire’s Row” in Pacific Heights. The Bliss Estate boasts five floors of living space with commanding views of the San Francisco Bay and beyond. The San Francisco Decorator Showcase will be open to the public from April 27 – May 27, 2024.

2024 San Francisco Decorator Showcase House Details

Featured as the Decorator Showcase venue in 1989 and built in 1899 by renowned architects Walter D. Bliss and Walter Paville (Saint Francis Hotel, James Flood Mansion, Geary Theater) for Walter Bliss’s parents Elizabeth and Duane “D.L.” Bliss, 2898 Broadway stood at the highest echelons of prestige and was the perfect home for the family who built a large fortune in gold mining, lumber, railroads, Lake Tahoe tourism and were significant players in San Francisco society.

The San Francisco Decorator Showcase benefits the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program and will be open to the public from April 27 – May 27, 2024. Some of the region’s top designers will transform the house into the ultimate immersive visitor experience.

Located at the famed Baker Street stairs, 2898 Broadway has been hailed as a beautifully proportioned and exquisitely detailed essay of Dutch Colonial Revival architecture. The façade is perfectly symmetrical, and while it appears as a two-story house with an attic structure on its Broadway side, the house marches down a steep slope with additional floors visible along the Baker Street steps. It is currently on the market, represented by Max Armour and Karen Mendelsohn Gould from Compass, and offered for sale for $32M.
