Miele has announced the winners of its 2013 Call for Exceptional Kitchens design competition, which honors projects that include the company’s culinary appliances. This year’s competition, which partnered with Architizer – a fast-growing database of architecture online – received entries from more than 200 architects, designers and builders.

Winners in two categories were announced – an Overall Winner and a People’s Choice Winner. The Overall Winner was a 2,000-sq.-ft. renovation project called “South Beach Miami Minimal” by Esteban Cruces and Lisette Aragon of ALBERTO/ESTEBAN. The design team fused together the dining table and kitchen island where the family can share meals and interact with each other. The project features a fully integrated, 30-in. refrigerator and fully integrated 18-in. freezer, a 24-in. wine storage system, an electric cooktop and a MasterChef oven and microwave – all from MIele.
The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Eurocucina 2014 (April 8 – 13) in Milan, along with a visit to Miele’s global headquarters in Gütersloh, Germany.

The People’s Choice Winner was “All Wrapped Up” by Lauren Levant Bland of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath. The kitchen design mixes traditional oak wood with stainless steel and features bay windows, white cabinets and a tiled backsplash. This project features a 30-in. Miele MasterChef double oven and a fully integrated dishwasher and warming drawer.
