What are the hottest colors in kitchen ranges right now? According to BlueStar, ruby red is this year’s hottest color. Color is making a splash in kitchens for people who not only take cooking seriously, but who want to make a personal design statement.
“Design and function are becoming equally important to the serious home chef,” said Mike Trapp, president, Prizer Painter Stove Works, Inc., the maker of BlueStar. “Once content with the institutional look of a product that wore its workhouse qualities on its sleeve, people are now relying on the range as the focal point of the kitchen, which if you love to cook, it certainly is.”
While refrigerators tend to be covered up with wood panels, the range can add a small burst of color to make the kitchen come to life. “Pops of color introduce flavor without a full scale commitment to a single, bold color,” said kitchen designer Georgia Tanajewski, CKD, CAPS, owner – oneIIone Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. “A colored range can work independently as a ‘statement piece’ or as a subtle backdrop allowing cabinets to take center stage. In addition to ranges, people are introducing color accents by adding distinct hues inside kitchen cabinets or using an open shelf concept to showcase decorative pieces. Another trend is an inclination toward matte, rather than high-gloss finishes, just like the BlueStar Jet Black range.”
