Want to Blog Like a Pro?

Published: January 13, 2012

Masco Cabinetry has partnered with the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) to offer NKBA student members the opportunity to blog about design in a new competition, “Blog Like a Pro.” The contest will award top entrants scholarships of $1,500, $700 and $500.

“This competition encourages students to think like a design professional and communicate their ideas effectively,” said Susan Cross, brand and communications manager for Masco Cabinetry. “Today’s design professionals are learning the value of communication and blogging about the importance of good design for beautiful, functional spaces. Blog Like a Pro allows students to demonstrate their ability to communicate strongly about the design process.”

Students are asked to create a total of three blog posts relating to design ideas and themes. With an image gallery full of products from KraftMaid, Merillat, QualityCabinets and DeNova Countertops, students are given a variety of topics to blog about.

“Blog Like a Pro challenges students to create a blog that will allow them to learn and practice articulating their design ideas in an online setting,” said Sherylin Doyle, manager of academic relations for the NKBA. “This is a skill that more and more designers are finding they need.”

The competition, concluding at the beginning of March 2012, will be judged by a panel of professional kitchen and bath designers and social media experts, jointly selected by Masco Cabinetry and the NKBA. The student winner will be announced at the 2012 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show.
