WAC Lighting to Sponsor 2013 Invitational Science Fair

Published: February 7, 2013

Continuing its commitment to science students on Long Island, WAC Lighting is holding its Invitational Science Fair on Sunday, April 28th at Roslyn High School in Roslyn, NY.

“WAC Lighting is honored to sponsor the Invitational Science Fair in 2013,” said Shelley Wald, WAC Lighting president.  “We believe investing in today’s science students will help develop tomorrow’s business and science leaders, and perhaps, some of these young scientists will solve some of the world’s problems.”

The WAC Lighting Invitational Science Fair will feature eight categories with winners selected from projects developed and completed by high school seniors and underclass students (grades 9-11). Awards and scholarships will be presented to the first-, second- and third-place winners, as well as honorable mentions. The categories include: Environmental Science, Prototype Engineering; Biochemistry; General Biology; Behavioral Science; Chemistry; Physical Science; and Computer Science.

Each year, more than 400 students come together in this science fair to present their research experience to judges from universities, hospitals, private practices and businesses located throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Participating students have spent months, and even years, in school or local university labs exploring the nature of cancer or inexpensive ways to produce alternative fuels. A wide variety of topics is open for exploration, from astronomy to biotechnology, from basic research and theoretical studies, to projects focused on the pragmatic.
