Salvatori Opens Soho Showroom

Salvatori, the award-winning Italian design company specializing in natural stone, announces the grand opening of its Soho showroom, the brand’s first flagship in North America. The showroom and boutique are located at 102 Wooster Street, the epicenter of New York City’s luxury fashion district. 

Designed by international design studio Yabu Pushelburg, the showroom seeks to create a bespoke design destination that would introduce North America to its “Total Look” design capabilities encompassing innovative textural surfaces, sculptural bathroom products and contemporary home décor pieces — all crafted from beautiful natural Italian stone. The new showroom will serve as headquarters for Salvatori’s U.S.-based team, providing customers and designers with unparalleled access to the brand’s bespoke designs and services. The New York showroom marks the brand’s third standalone global destination, following Milan and London.

Salvatori’s dual-level 6,400-sq.-ft. showroom will feature thoughtfully curated vignettes showcasing the brand’s extensive collection of luxury materials and home décor, including wall and floor finishes, bathroom fixtures, seating, lighting, outdoor furniture and home accessories — many of which are the result of partnerships with internationally noted designers including Stephen Burks, Kengo Kuma, Piero Lissoni, Luca Nichetto, Elisa Ossino, John Pawson, Yabu Pushelberg and Patricia Urquiola. 

A boutique at the forepart of the showroom will serve as a shopping destination for giftable décor and accessories. The Salvatori apartamento, located in the basement of the showroom, will include a fully operational marble kitchen dedicated to serving as a destination for intimate gatherings and programming for the brand and its partners.

To portray the heritage story of Salvatori, the brand tapped renowned international design studio Yabu Pushelberg to blend the spirit of Milan with the energy of Soho. Together, the two design companies share an admiration of craft and finding beauty in the perfectly imperfect, a mutual belief in context and craft that helped guide Yabu Pushelberg’s previous collaborations with the natural stone brand – the Punto and Anima bathroom collections, and a sculpture series, The Village | Assembly.

Inspired by the blueprint of Milan, Yabu Pushelberg developed a custom modular wall system that allows the showroom to transform from one open concept space to being defined in up to seven rooms. Meanwhile, the legacy of Soho is communicated through the store’s original cast iron columns, floor-to-ceiling brick walls and gallery-style approach to designing the store.

“We designed the Salvatori showroom as a window into the future of retail design,” said George Yabu, co-founder of Yabu Pushelberg. “The space was designed to adapt to the needs of Salvatori. Rather than creating a permanent floor plan, we designed a custom wall panel system that allows the showroom to transform from one open concept space to a series of rooms and vignettes.”

Providing Salvatori flexibility in their showroom design allows them new ways to represent themselves to New York.
