Pulp Design Studios Announces Pulp Properties

Published: September 7, 2021

Pulp Design Studios, the national interior design firm founded by Beth Dotolo and Carolina Gentry, has announced its expansion into real estate development and the experiential hospitality market.

The newly formed Pulp Properties division now includes a multi-unit commercial space in the Oak Cliff neighborhood in Dallas and a stunning mid-century modern house in Palm Springs’ Racquet Club Estates. Both properties will offer an experience that flips the narrative on what commercial and hospitality design will be in the future. The spaces will also serve as incubators for Pulp’s innovative and unique design concepts and products.

“Pulp Properties was formed not just to invest in real estate,” said Dotolo. “This is a bigger vision for us, giving us space to experiment with how people will want to work and vacation in the future. We’re always looking for ways to move beyond expected design ideas and this is a great way for us to allow others to experience our new approach for interiors and lifestyles.”

According to Gentry, “We love an adventure and to take unexpected detours in our business. We knew that we wanted to expand beyond residential design and to try something totally novel and original. We want Pulp Properties to create an experience that we feel is a fresh new interpretation for commercial and rental properties. And we’ll be announcing more acquisitions in the future as Pulp Properties grows.”

The Palm Springs property is an iconic Meiselman house with sweeping views of the San Jacinto Mountains. It will serve as both a shoppable vacation rental and a hub for Pulp’s team to experiment with designs that reimagine how people live in and interact with their interior spaces. The estimated launch date for the rental is the beginning of 2022.

“Palm Springs is a magical place, and a special destination for Pulp Design Studios,” said Dotolo. “This small city was the hub of innovation for mid-century modernism and desert modernism, inspiring new ideas like simple lines, homes open to nature and experimental materials. That sense of bold reinvention and exploration is why we chose Palm Springs for our first immersive hospitality experiment. It’s also adjacent to our Los Angeles office, which makes it easy for our team to work there when it isn’t occupied by vacationers.”

The Dallas commercial space will incorporate Pulp’s design office as well as a range of woman-owned businesses, including photographers, fashion designers, vintage retail, and an art studio/retail space for children and adults.

Pulp Properties will continue to seek out new locations that will inspire and drive the Pulp team’s exploration of design, architecture and property development.
