The Portland Group Acquires a Three-Branch Company in Connecticut

The Portland Group, a family-owned, fourth-generation plumbing and heating company, announced the purchase of Middlesex Supply, a three-branch, family-owned company based in Connecticut.

“Middlesex Supply, like The Portland Group, is built on family values, which was very important to us,” said Howard Rose, The Portland Group.

Middlesex Supply operates New Shepard Supply and Clinton Supply in Middletown, Vernon and Clinton, Connecticut, respectively. A fourth-generation family owned business founded by the Miller Family in 1929, Middlesex Supply will now fall under The Portland Group umbrella.

“Middlesex Supply Co., a family owned business for 89 years, is pleased to join the Fox-Rose family of The Portland Group,” said Bob Miller, CEO of Middlesex Supply Company.

The Portland Group currently has wholesale branches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as four retail showroom locations: Splash, the interactive design center in Newton, Massachusetts, and Spritzo with locations in Saco, Maine; Providence, Rhode Island and Worcester, Massachusetts.

“We’re very excited for our new venture and to continue what the Miller family started all those years ago,” said Richard Fox, The Portland Group.

Founded in 1930 by the Rose and Fox families, four generations and almost 90 years later The Portland Group has evolved into one of New England’s leading wholesalers of plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
