OMNOVA Solutions’ won the Gravure Association of the Americas’ 2019 Golden Cylinder Award in the Product-Decorative Laminates category. This marks the second year in a row OMNOVA’s Laminates and Films business has won the award. Additionally, the company also brought home the award for Best of the Best in the Product category for gravure-quality execution of graphics on various substrates.
The annual competition promotes the gravure printing process and provides peer recognition for technical achievement. Judges are selected from a group of recognized professionals with experience and an established reputation in the gravure industry, including designers, educators and publishers, among others.
Recognized as the 2019 winner in the Product-Decorative Laminates category, Bodega Old Light Plank is a surf(x) Echo 3D Laminate that uses the latest Emboss-In-Register (EIR) technology to produce realistic woodgrain. With EIR technology, the laminate texture ‘echoes’ the natural material, creating a realistic look and feel that simulates nature.
Bodega Old Light Plank, produced in OMNOVA’s Auburn, PA manufacturing facility, is a 16 mil rigid thermofoil (RTF) in a multicolored plank woodgrain. Mimicking paint-worn, distressed wood planks with crisp color and unique texture, this laminate offers an inspired design and is the first-to-market plank-style woodgrain featuring EIR technology.
“We are honored to accept the 2019 Golden Cylinder and Best of the Best Awards, in recognition of what was truly a team effort,” said Tammy Polovic, global market manager for OMNOVA’s Laminates and Films business. “We are proud to be recognized for a design that was printed, laminated and embossed using our EIR technology in the first year that OMNOVA introduced this capability to the market.”
