New CEO Appointed at Cabinetworks

Published: June 12, 2024

Cabinetworks Group, the country’s largest privately owned cabinet manufacturer, announced today that it has appointed Jeff Jackson as Chief Executive Officer.

Jackson succeeds John Barkhouse, who has transitioned into an advisory role and will continue helping Jackson and the company in the near term.

Jackson has over 25 years of experience leading company transformations and spent the past 19 years in the building products industry, most recently as President and CEO of PGT Innovations, Inc. (PGTI), a manufacturer and supplier of premium windows and doors. PGTI, which was publicly traded until recently, was acquired in March by MITER Brands for $3.1 billion.

“Jeff is an inspiring and accomplished leader who has substantial experience leading operations and financial strategy, developing organizational capability, and improving business performance,” said Christian Cook, Managing Director at Platinum Equity, which acquired Cabinetworks in 2021. “He knows the building products sector inside out, has a diverse skill set, and has shown he can lead with a steady hand across multiple economic cycles. We are excited to have Jeff on board.”

Jackson joined PGTI in November 2005 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In 2006, he helped lead the company’s IPO and was later promoted to Executive Vice President and then President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2018, Jackson was appointed CEO of PGTI.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to join Cabinetworks at such an important time for our company and the building products industry,” Jackson said. “I believe our business has enormous potential. We have an array of brands with reputations for quality, reliability, and the right selection to meet the needs of any customer. I look forward to working with the talented and dedicated team of professionals at Cabinetworks to deliver industry-leading solutions, excellent services, and product innovations to our customers.”

Jackson will be based in the new Cabinetworks headquarters in Livonia, Michigan.

Prior to PGTI, Jackson served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of The Hershey Company, Senior Vice President and CFO of Schwan’s Bakery, Inc., and Senior Vice President of Operations for Mrs. Smith’s Bakeries.

Jackson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of West Georgia and is an active Certified Public Accountant in Georgia. He serves on the Board of Directors for Smith Douglas Homes, a publicly traded home builder based in Atlanta, as Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. Jackson also serves on the Board of Directors for Astec Industries, a maker of heavy machinery and road-building equipment.
