Moen continues its efforts to provide affordable housing and homeownership to low-income and Latino communities through its national product donation program “Alcanzando Suenos con Moen,” (Achieving Dreams with Moen).
For the holiday season, Moen partnered with the Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida (NHSSF), a non-profit housing and community development organization in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties to help lower the costs associated with the construction of new homes. Since 2007, Moen has donated kitchen and bathroom fixtures to major non-profit housing development organizations in Chicago, South Florida, Phoenix, New York, San Antonio, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles.
Utilizing funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other funding sources, NHSSF is in the process of constructing DuPuis Pointe, a sub-division comprised of 27 new single-family homes. DuPuis Pointe sits on 4.2 acres located in the Gladeview neighborhood in the north central area of Miami-Dade County.
“Moen’s generous donation brings top-quality fixtures for the kitchen and bathroom and helps ensure water conservation and lower water utility bills,” said Arden Shank, NHSSF president and CEO. “We look forward to expanding our relationship with Moen as we continue to build and rehabilitate homes to serve low-moderate income families throughout our community.”
DuPuis Pointe includes three-bedroom/two-bathroom and four-bedroom/two-bathroom model homes. The houses are built using building materials that provide a high insulation value and a tight building envelope, which saves energy and reduces the homeowner’s utility costs. In addition, all the homes are built using the latest techniques in hurricane preparation and have received an Energy Star 3 rating.
