A one-of-a-kind green designer home was revealed at the recent Dwell on Design show held in Los Angeles. Under the direction of ecofabulous founder, Zem Joaquin, the 550-sq.-ft. prefab Modern Living Showhouse combined high style with low impact. The residence was created to offer visitors the opportunity to touch and feel green products and learn how conscious design improves the health, safety and beauty of homes.
Designed by architect Jonathan Davis, the showhouse is part of the pieceHomes line of green modular homes built by OneBuild Inc. The house is sponsored by Electrolux, ICON Appliances, O Organics and Bright Green. Each facet of the showhouse was selected for sustainability standards and livability. With recycled tile and glass countertops, rapidly renewable cork flooring, an energy-efficient kitchen and laundry appliances, and an organic mattress, the house is an eco-friendly dwelling that is both inviting and good-looking.
Highlights of the Modern Living Showhouse include energy-efficient kitchen appliances from Electrolux ICON; water-saving laundry appliances from Electrolux; a kitchen stocked with O Organics products; Bright Green cleaning line made with naturally derived and biodegradable ingredients; FSC-certified bio-composite exterior cladding material from EcoClad; precision windows and doors from Western Window Systems; cork floors from Wicanders; IceStone countertop made from 100 percent recycled glass and concrete; cabinets by Neil Kelly featuring rapidly renewable Plyboo material; Lumens LED lighting technology; recycled glass tile and recycled content grout from Modwalls; Caroma’s dual-flush toilet and bathroom sink; Sustainable Solutions International deep stainless-steel kitchen sink; and water-efficient faucets and fixtures from Brizo
