Miele Donates $145,000 to Disaster Relief Efforts

Published: February 20, 2013

Miele is donating $145,000 to the American Red Cross to assist in its continued Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The money raised was part of a combined effort with the company’s dealer network and its “Help Us, Help Our Neighbors” campaign. A portion from the sale of every vacuum cleaner and dishwasher sold from November 19 to December 19, 2012, was earmarked for the campaign.

“This storm has been a catastrophe that has touched us all,” said Nick Ord, president of Miele, USA. “With our U.S. headquarters in Princeton, NJ, we have seen, firsthand, the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy on our employees, friends and neighbors. We are committed to helping those impacted by the storm and hope that our assistance will support the incredible relief efforts the American Red Cross continues to provide to the millions of people still recovering from this storm.”

Even those not directly impacted by Sandy were quick to lend their support to the initiative. “We were honored to be a part of this campaign,” said Jeff Warner, president of Warners’ Stellian, a Miele appliance dealer based in Minnesota. “We truly believe the people who bought Miele dishwashers during the campaign did so because they knew a portion of the sales were helping others. Minnesotans care.”

Over the years, Miele has fostered a longstanding relationship with the American Red Cross, providing annual funding for its programs and services, including disaster relief. “The American Red Cross is extremely grateful for Miele’s generosity, and for the incredible participation by Miele customers, to support our work helping those impacted by Superstorm Sandy,” said Mathieu Nelessen, regional CEO of the American Red Cross North Jersey Region.
