To help kick off the holiday season, Lowe’s has teamed up with do-it-yourselfers and designers to create holiday-inspired rooms. From simple improvement projects to eye-catching decor, the budget-friendly DIY ideas are designed to give the home a boost for the holiday season.
The website Design Mom offers ideas to make a welcoming entryway, including painting the front door in a holiday red (above) or adding bright white lights nestled in bright white garlands to create a snowy holiday feel inexpensively. Holiday stockings can also be showcased by hanging them along stair railings or attaching them with ribbon to a branch, and the branch can be hung on a wall.
Blogger Little Green Notebook details the foyer area, offering tips such as buying a small tree and creating an ombre pattern with glass ornaments painted in a matte finish to create a gradient. Other ideas include displaying Christmas cards on decorative tables in a center hall with platters and antiques to display cards received. The cards can also be strung with clothespins.
To freshen up the kitchen, website Brit + Co. suggests incorporating pops of red accent pieces or striping the legs of a red kitchen stool with white painter’s tape for a candy cane theme. Install a new backsplash with glass mosaic, subway or ceiling tiles or wallpaper to give the kitchen a personalized look. Homeowners can also create a “DIY Light Marquee.” To do so, take cardboard letters, spray paint them gold and poke small holes in for the lights, then weave a strand of bulbs behind the sign to connect all the letters and display on your countertop.
