Laufen Partners to Promote Culture

Published: August 16, 2012

Laufen will join the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helevita to present the Salon Suisse, an event program that accompanies the Swiss contribution to the Architecture Biennale 2012 in Venice with readings, lectures, panel discussions, workshops and performances.

Switzerland, which has taken part in the Biennale since 1920, will be represented this year by the architect and ETH-Professor Miroslav Sik and his exhibition  “And now the ensemble!!!,” which requests colleagues, clients and authorities to construct new buildings that are sympathetic to their environment. In addition, the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helvetia is, for the first time, supplementing the Swiss contribution with an event program curated by Robert Guy Wilson, editor of London’s architecture magazine Block. Under the label Salon Suisse, a variety of events will take place at Palazzo Trevisan to promote the exchange between professionals and the public.

Events currently planned for the Salone Suisse include the panel discussion “Common Images: Architecture and the Iconic Turn” and a program that will address “Talking architecture, practice… and a touch of the Swiss.”

The Salone Suisse will be open from August 28 to November 24, 2012.
