Kitchen Remodeling Costs by Market

Published: April 25, 2022

While kitchen remodeling costs will be impacted by a variety of factors, where you’re located will play a major part in determining the overall price you pay. HomeAdvisor, powered by Angi, put together a full cost guide on remodeling a kitchen. The top three cities in which it’s most expensive to remodel a kitchen are all located in California.

Remodeling a kitchen in a city with a lower overall cost of living means you’ll pay less than trying to get the same work done in a more expensive city. Mischa Fisher, Chief Economist at Angi, explains the considerations when calculating the cost of living and how it relates to the cost of remodeling a kitchen.

“Cost of living can be looked at as a basket combining the prices of commonly purchased goods. This helps determine, for example, how much can $100 purchase in one city versus another, or how much someone needs to make to be able to afford basic goods and services, Fisher said. “Cost of living also impacts wage levels, so when it comes to the service industries, the cost of labor will vary depending on location and cost of living in that area. Kitchen remodeling costs, like those of doing any other kind of home project, are dependent on local material and labor prices, so in places with higher costs of living, the cost of a home project will be higher than in areas with lower costs of living.”
