Patrick Nielsen, global technical products manager for Broan-NuTone, a leading manufacturer of residential ventilation solutions, has been appointed chairman of the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) Board of Directors for the 2021-2023 term. In addition to the role of chairman, he is also the chair of the Codes and Standards Committee and is active in multiple other committees addressing industry issues. He has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017 and served as secretary from 2019-2021.
Nielsen has 20 years of experience with Broan-NuTone, including roles in product development. He has used his engineering background to launch a wide range of innovative ventilation products to solve a variety of IAQ and customer challenges. More recently, his focus has been codes and standards, green building trends and projecting longer-term product needs/opportunities.
The HVI Board members are a driving force behind HVI’s success and are committed to transparent governance and strongly encourages each member company to take advantage of its voting privileges. Each member company is entitled to one vote per member company on all issues brought before the various committees and the General Membership.
As chairman, Nielsen will continue to drive HVI’s mission to champion healthy indoor air by working together to advance and promote dependable ventilation practices through product certification, stakeholder education, and codes and standards participation.
Nielsen is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) and the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA).
