Lamar Design has been named a 2013 Chrysalis National Awards Winner for its kitchen remodel project. The annual awards program, which started in 1994, honors the talent, creativity and professionalism of remodeling projects from across the country.
The firm updated a dark, 1960s, fully paneled kitchen (picture before the renovation below) into a bright, airy space (pictured above). A vaulted ceiling with exposed painted beams visually lightens the room, while new white cabinetry, stainless appliances, granite countertops and a backsplash with a hint of metallic shimmer modernize the kitchen.

The judges chose Lamar Design as the winner based on the firm’s success with the overall design, the creative use of space and materials and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure. “This was the first year they have entered the awards, and to take home top honors on the first attempt is impressive,” said Ken Kanline, director of the awards program.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized nationally for our work in residential design,” said Tom Lamar, president of Lamar Design. “This award is a testament to our firm’s dedication to and passion for design excellence. We share in the honor with the contractor, Mark Jensen of MJ Construction, and everyone on our team, especially the clients who were vital to making the project a success.”
